Corrections Training

Are you interested in a career in corrections? If so, you have come to the right place. Certified First offers an Adult Corrections Officer academy. The first step to obtain a rewarding career in corrections is to attend the Adult Corrections Officer Academy. Upon completion of the academy, you will have a Certificate of Completion, CPR | AED and First Aid Certification, and chemical agents certification.

The academy is ran in a para-military format and is designed to provide you the basic training to gain employment in local correctional facilities as a Corrections Officer/Deputy or Jailer.


Adult Corrections Officer Academy

The Academy is a 187-hour course that is ran in a para-military format.

The Adult Core Academy includes:

  • Overview of California Law
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • De-Escalation Skills
  • Baton Training
  • Defensive Tactics
  • Principles of Use of Force and Restraints
  • Handcuffing
  • Physical Conditioning
  • Conducting a Search
  • Cell Extractions
  • Transport Procedures
  • Fire and Life Safety
  • First Aid and CPR

Prerequisites:

  • Be free of felony convictions
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License
  • Undergo a fingerprint and criminal history check
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Be a high school graduate, pass the GED, the California High School Proficiency Examination, or have attained a two-year or four-year degree from an accredited college or university
  • Complete a medical suitability examination
  • Complete a Personal History Statement and interview prior to start of class.
